The Ampersand In Depth

Almost a year in the making, and our new rebrand has just launched! I’m so excited to share it with you!

We chose to capitalize on the ampersand, the ‘and’ part of our name. We have a unique business that sees two people become one. It’s not just Emily, it’s Emily & Caleb. The ampersand is instilled as a permanent fixture between the names.

So we had an idea, we just needed to add meaning. And we added some serious meaning. The ampersand is composed of 3 main parts; the lyre, the foliage and the ropes.

THE LYRE

The lyre is a stringed instrument with roots back in ancient Greece. It represents the cinematic feel we put in all our films. Music is a key piece in the videos as it evokes emotion and stirs up the heart. It’s foundational in our films and so it seemed fitting to have it represented that way in the logo.

THE FOLIAGE

The rest of the ampersand is made up of leaves, twigs, and acorns. This ties in with the overall nature theme we put in our films. You’ll notice that each piece has a pair. They are couples. It also gives a bit of a fairytale feel to the ampersand as a whole.

THE ROPE

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

This passage from the Bible is often referenced at wedding ceremonies. We chose to include it in our logo simply because we believe that it is true. Two are better than one.
